Diabetes: daily foot checks and care
A brief reminder about daily checks, hygiene and timely professional assessment.
This information supports a conversation with your healthcare team. It does not replace individual assessment or treatment.
If you have diabetes, a daily check helps you notice a change early, even when there is no pain.
A daily reminder
- Look at your feet every day, including the soles and between the toes. Use a mirror or ask someone to help if needed.
- Wash in warm water and dry carefully, especially between the toes.
- Moisturise dry areas, keeping cream away from between the toes.
- Seek timely professional assessment for a wound or new redness, warmth, pain or swelling. A different cosmetic product is not a substitute for assessment.
Questions for your next visit
- Should anything change in my foot-care routine?
- Which changes mean I should contact my healthcare team immediately?
- When is my next professional foot check due?
